Nasonex Nasal Spray  Information
Nasonex (Mometasone) Nasal Spray, 50 mcg is a prescription medicine used to treat nasal congestion and other nasal allergy symptoms (sneezing, itchy, runny nose). It works by reducing nasal swelling caused by an allergic reaction. Nasonex (Mometasone) is a type of medication recommended as a "first-line" therapy for nasal allergies, when congestion or nasal blockage is present, by the American Academy of Allergies, Asthma and Immunology. Nasonex (Mometasone) contains a steroid related to cortisol, a hormone produced naturally by the body. Therefore, because it is administered in the nose, it is considered a "nasal steroid."

Nasonex Nasal Spray  Directions
The usual recommended dose for adults and children 12 years of age and older is 2 sprays into each nostril once daily at approximately the same time each day. If this dose does not control allergy symptoms, a dose of 4 sprays into each nostril once daily may be used. Once your symptoms are under control, your doctor may recommend that you reduce your dose to 1 spray into each nostril once a day to maintain your symptom control.

Nasonex Nasal Spray  Side Effects
Serious side effects from Nasonex (Mometasone) nasal are not likely to occur. Stop using Nasonex (Mometasone) nasal and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives). Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to use Nasonex (Mometasone) nasal and talk to your doctor if you experience headache; viral infection; sore throat; bleeding nose; coughing; upper respiratory tract infection; painful menstruation; muscle pain; or stinging or burning of the nose.
