Usage

Alphagan eye drops (Brimonidine) is used to treat open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Brimonidine, the active ingredient, belongs to the class of drugs called alpha adrenergic agonists.

You should wait at least 5 minutes before using any other eye drops your doctor has prescribed for you. Tell your doctor about all the medications you use including prescription medications, OTC products, herbal supplements or vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Brimonidine and other medications such as antidepressants, and heart or blood pressure medications. Consult your doctor before using an opioid medication, sleeping pill, muscle relaxer, or medicine for anxiety and seizures – These medications can worsen the drowsiness.
