The active ingredient in this drug is Ranolazine, which works by helping to improve blood flow allowing the heart to work more efficiently. Ranexa is usually prescribed when other chest pain medications are not effective enough. It is used to treat chronic angina; it is not for use during an acute attack of angina. It may be used in conjunction with other medications from time to time depending on your own condition. Ranexa Dosage

The starting dose is 500 mg by mouth twice daily. Dose may be increased to 1000 mg by mouth twice daily based on your clinical response

Ranexa Side Effects

More serious side effects may include:

• Feeling faint, temors, shaking, changes in heartbeat;
• Shortness of breath, skin rash, tingling or numbness;
• Swelling in the hands and feet;
• Urinating less or not at all, blood in the urine;

Precautions
