Product Details

Venclexta (Venetoclax) is used to treat certain types of cancer (chronic lymphocytic leukemia-CLL, small lymphocytic lymphoma-SLL, acute myeloid leukemia-AML). Venclexta may sometimes be used in combination with Rituximab to treat these conditions. This medication is also used in combination with azacitidine, decitabine or cytarabine to treat acute myeloid leukemia. Venetoclax belongs to the class of medications called B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) inhibitors. It is a chemotherapy drug that works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells. This medication inhibits a certain protein in cancer cells that helps keep those cells alive and makes them resistant to chemotherapy. Ventoclax sticks to this protein, killing the cancerous lymphocytes in blood and bone marrow.

The possible side effects of Venclexta may include diarrhea, headache, nausea, tiredness and vomiting. Your doctor may prescribe other medications to prevent or relieve nausea and vomiting. Contact your doctor if you have any serious side effects such as easy bruising or bleeding.

Venetoclax may sometimes cause side effects due to the rapid destruction of cancer cells. Inform your doctor right away if you have symptoms such as:

• Low back or side pain;
• Signs of kidney problems

This medication may lower your ability to fight infections. Inform your doctor if you have any signs of an infection. You should not have immunization or vaccinations without the consent of your doctor. Avoid contact with people who have recently received live vaccines. Do not use Venclexta if you are pregnant as it could harm an unborn baby or cause birth defects. Venetoclax may affect fertility in men. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned about this.
