Usage

Cyclogyl (Cyclopentolate Hydrochloride) is an ophthalmic eye drop used to dilate the pupil and to prevent the eye from focussing. This eye drop may be used by your doctor before a surgical procedure or prior to examining the inside of your eye. Cyclogyl eye drops may also be used to relax the muscles of your eye. Cyclopentolate belongs to a class of drugs known as anticholinergics. This medication works by widening the pupil of the eye and relaxing the muscles of the eye. Cyclogyl is applied in the eye 40 to 50 minutes before the procedure or as directed by the doctor.

Side Effects and Precautions

Seek emergency medical attention if you have any signs of an allergic reaction. The common side effects of Cyclogyl ophthalmic may include blurred vision, mild eye irritation or redness, puffy eyelids, and the eyes being more sensitive to light.

Tell your doctor if you have any of the serious side effects such as:

Warnings and Interactions

You should not use Cyclogyl eye drops if you have ever had a severe allergic reaction to Cyclopentolate Hydrochloride or if you have angle-closure glaucoma. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor if you have glaucoma. This medication can cause blurred vision up to 24 hours after using the medication.
