Retin A (Tretinoin) is a form of Vitamin A that helps the skin to renew itself. Retin A is used to treat certain types of acne. This medication belongs to the class of medications called retinoids. It works by affecting the growth of skin cells. It may decrease the number and severity of acne pimples and promote quick healing of pimples that do develop. Tretinoin helps acne by causing the skin’s outer layer to grow more quickly and be replaced with new skin cells. This will reduce the formation of blackheads, whiteheads, and other acne lesions.
