Auvelity (Bupropion Hydrochloride/Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide) is a combined prescription medication used to treat major depressive disorder. The active ingredients in Auvelity are Bupropion Hydrochloride and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide. Auvelity belongs to the class of drugs called Dopamine/Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (NMDA Antagonists). The exact mechanism of action of Auvelity in the treatment of MDD is unclear. However, the active ingredients work synergistically to restore the brain's balance of certain dopamine and norepinephrine. Auvelity may be used for other conditions not mentioned in this guide.

The common side effects of Auvelity are dizziness, headache, diarrhea, feeling sleepy, dry mouth, sexual function problems, and excessive sweating.

Swallow tablets whole; do not crush, divide, or chew. One tablet once daily in the morning for three days, then increase to the maximum recommended dosage of one tablet twice daily, separated by at least 8 hours. Do not take more than 2 Auvelity tablets in 24 hours. Follow your doctor's prescription label carefully. Do not increase your dosage without your doctor's approval. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. Your condition may become worse when this drug is suddenly stopped. Inform your doctor if there is no improvement in your condition.

Before you start using Auvelity, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Allergic to dextromethorphan, bupropion, or any other ingredients in Auvelity;
• Chronic alcohol abuse;
• Eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia;
• Glaucoma or other eye problems;
• Kidney problems;
• Liver problems;
• Low blood sugar or history of recurrent falls due to hypoglycemia;
• Seizure disorder

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Auvelity can harm the unborn baby. You should be on an approved contraceptive while taking Auvelity to avoid getting pregnant. Do not use this medicine during pregnancy, and it would be best to discontinue immediately after pregnancy status is confirmed. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. Bupropion passes into breast milk. You should not breastfeed during treatment with this medicine, and for 5 days after the final dose. There may be a drug interaction between Auvelity and other drugs such as selegiline, tranylcypromine, pimozide, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, and eliglustat.
