Avalide Information
Drug name: Avalide, CoAprovel, Karvezide
Generic name: Hydrochlorothiazide/Irbesartan, Irovel H
Use: High blood pressure.
Avalide is a drug which is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. High blood pressure is very dangerous because if it is not treated it may lead to more severe conditions including stroke, angina (chest pain), heart failure and other serious heart conditions. The two active ingredients are hydrochlorothiazide and irbesartan. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic (water pill) and works by stopping your body from absorbing too much salt, which is a known cause of hypertension. Irbesartan is an angiotension II receptor antagonist, and this works by widening the blood vessels. This improves blood flow. We currently have brand Sanofi Aventis Avalide (150 mg/12.5 mg, 300 mg/12.5 mg) and generic Hydrochlorothiazide/Irbesartan (150 mg/12.5 mg, 300 mg/12.5 mg, 300 mg/25 mg) available in stock.
