Colymycin M (Colistin (Colistimethate Sodium)) is a prescription medication used to treat acute or chronic bacterial infection caused by sensitive gram-negative bacterial strains, including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The active substance in Colymycin M is Colistin. Colistimethate Sodium belongs to a group of medications called antibiotics. It works by killing and suppressing the growth of bacteria. Colymycin M should be used only to treat or prevent infections caused by bacteria to reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of antibiotics.
