Usage

Credelio (Lotilaner) is a prescription medication used to treat and prevent flea infestations. The drug also controls tick infestations in dogs and puppies for one month. Controlling flea and tick infestations helps keep you and your pet healthy. It prevents the transmission of serious diseases like Lyme disease. The active ingredient in Credelio is Lotilaner. Lotilaner belongs to a class of drugs called isoxazoline insecticides. It works by affecting the nervous system of parasites, leading to paralysis and, eventually, death.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Credelio are lethargy, appetite loss, hyperactivity, and vomiting.

Stop administering Credelio and contact your veterinarian immediately if your dog has any of the following serious side effects such as:
• Signs of neurologic adverse reactions such as ataxia, tremors, seizures, etc

Warnings and Interactions

Before administering Lotilaner, tell your veterinarian if your dog is allergic to any ingredient in the drug or has any other allergies. Credelio comes as a chewable tablet and should be taken by mouth (orally) as directed by your veterinarian. Credelio is for use in dogs and puppies at least 8 weeks of age and weighs at least 4.4 lbs (1.4 kg). You can start treatment with Credelio at any time of the year and continue all year round without interruption. However, it is best to start this treatment one month before fleas become active and continue monthly through the end of flea season. To minimize the risk of flea re-infestation, treat all animals within the household with an approved flea protection product. This drug is not for human use. Wash your hands after handling the drug. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Before you start administering Credelio, inform your veterinarian about your dog's medical history, especially if it:
• Has a history of seizures;
• Has neurologic disorders;
• Is lactating;
• Is pregnant or breeding

Inform your veterinarian about all your pet's medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your veterinarian if your dog is pregnant or breeding. The safety of Credelio in pregnant and breeding dogs has not been established. Inform your veterinarian if your dog is breastfeeding. It is unknown if this drug is safe for use in lactating dogs. There may be a drug interaction between Credelio and other drugs.
