Usage

Dalacin T (Clindamycin 1%) is a prescription topical solution used to treat acne (pimples). The active ingredient in Dalacin T is Clindamycin. Clindamycin belongs to the class of drugs called lincomycin antibiotics. It works by attacking the bacteria associated with acne, Propionibacterium acnes. By controlling these bacteria, clindamycin brings the inflammation of the sebaceous glands under control and allows the skin to heal. This medication should not be used to treat colds, flu, or viral infection.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Dalacin T are oiliness, skin redness, burning or skin itching, peeling, and application site pain.

Stop using Dalacin T and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Pain or stinging sensation in the eye;
• Severe or prolonged or bloody diarrhea;
• Skin redness;
• Stomach ache;
• Worsening your acne

Warnings and Interactions

Before you use Dalacin T cream, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to it or other lincomycin antibiotics cream. You should follow your doctor's prescription carefully and use it accordingly. Shake the bottle well before use and wash the affected area before applying the lotion. You should apply a small amount of Dalacin T topical solution to the area of skin affected by acne twice a day, morning and evening. Dalacin T lotion should be gently rubbed into your skin using your fingertips or a cotton pad. Do not apply Dalacin T to broken, sunburnt, or sensitive skin areas, and avoid getting it on your eyelids, lips, eyes, nose, or mouth. You should inform your doctor if your condition worsens for alternative treatment.

Before you start using Dalacin T, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Allergic to clindamycin or the related antibiotic lincomycin;
• Inflammatory bowel disease or a history of bowel problems related to antibiotics;
• kidney problems;
• Liver problems

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Clindamycin is not known to be harmful during pregnancy, but Dalacin T will only be prescribed if your doctor thinks it is essential. Dalacin T is not expected to harm a breastfed baby, although your doctor should prescribe it. Breastfeeding mothers can use Dalacin T. You should avoid applying it to your chest, so your baby doesn't come into contact with it. Consult your doctor immediately if your child develops diarrhea or signs of illness. There may be a drug interaction between Dalacin T and other drugs such as steroid cream and other lincomycin antibiotics.
