Product Details

Lixiana (Edoxaban) is a prescription medication that is used to treat blood clots for people who have had a deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism and prevents these blood clots from happening. It is also used to prevent stroke or blood clots in people with atrial fibrillation. Edoxaban belongs to the family of medications called Anticoagulants, which works by preventing harmful blood clots from forming in the blood vessels by preventing the blood from clotting.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects may include:
• Easy bruising,
• Increased menstrual bleeding;
• Itchy skin;
• Low red blood cell count;
• Reduced liver function;
• Skin rash

The serious side effects may include:
• Signs of bleeding in the stomach (bloody black or tarry stools);
• Signs of clotting problems (unusual nosebleeds, bruising, blood in urine);
• Signs of stroke;
• Signs of a serious allergic reaction (abdominal cramps, difficulty breathing, nausea)

You should not take this medication if you are allergic to Edoxaban. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication should not be used during pregnancy. It is not known if Edoxaban passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding a baby. There may be an interaction between Edoxaban and other medications such as amiodarone, atorvastatin, carvedilol, clopidogrel, cyclosporine, dabigatran, omega-3 fatty acids, prasugrel, quinidine, quinine, rifampin, tenofovir, verapamil, vitamin E, warfarin, etc.
