Lovaza is used to treat patients who have high triglycerides in the blood. The active ingredient is omega-3, which is a group of fatty acids found naturally in oily foods such as fish, vegetables, buts and lentils. They work by acting as a natural triglyceride lowering medication, which can prevent the risk of heart disease, stroke and artery disease. Lovaza is usually part of an overall treatment program that includes changes to diet and exercise in addition.
