Lupron Depot (Leuprolide Acetate for depot suspension) is a prescription medication that is used to treat endometriosis in women and central precocious puberty (CPP) in children. The active ingredient leuprolide is a man-made form of the hormone that regulates certain processes in the body. It works by stimulating the production of other hormones, and this causes the production to temporarily stop. It reduces the production of testosterone in men and estrogen in women. This medication only treats the symptoms of prostate cancer and endometriosis. It does not cure prostate cancer.
