Midrid (Acetaminophen/Isometheptene) is a prescription medication used to treat migraines and throbbing headaches. The active ingredients in Midrid are Acetaminophen and Isometheptene. Midrid belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics. The two active ingredient works differently to stop the pain. The throbbing pain sometimes felt during a migraine is linked to the head's swollen blood vessels (vasodilation). Acetaminophen works directly on the pain, whereas Isometheptene returns the blood vessels to normal and, as a result, helps to take away the pain.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Midrid include dizziness, rash, decrease in the number of platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia), blood disorders, allergic reaction to an active ingredient.

Warnings and Interactions

You should not take Midrid if you are allergic to Acetaminophen or Isometheptene or paracetamol or have other problems when taking paracetamol. Porphyria - genetic blood disorder;
• Severe kidneys problem;
• Spinal cord injury

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. There may be a drug interaction between Midrid and other drugs such as bromocriptine, metoclopramide or domperidone, tricyclic antidepressants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors, antihypertensive, cholestyramine, warfarin, digoxin, quinidine, carbamazepine, phenobarbitone, phenytoin and primidone (for epilepsy), rifampicin (an antibiotic), and another migraine medicine.
