Usage

Orthovisc (Sodium Hyaluronate) is a prescription injection used to treat knee pain caused by osteoarthritis (source). Orthovisc is used in patients when they have tried other treatments such as acetaminophen, exercise, or physical therapy but have not responded to these treatments. Hyaluronate (Hyaluronan) is similar to the substance that occurs naturally in the joints. This medication works by acting as a lubricant and shock absorber in the joint, helping the knee move smoothly and lessen the pain.

Side Effects

• An overall achy feeling;
• Back pain;
• Fast or pounding heartbeat;
