Usage

Prevident (Sodium Fluoride 1.1%) is an over-the-counter toothpaste used to brush teeth, prevent cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay, and reduce pain in sensitive teeth. This drug also strengthens the tooth enamel and removes plaque bacteria from the teeth and gums. The active ingredient in Prevident is sodium fluoride. Sodium fluoride belongs to a class of medications called mouth and throat products. Sodium fluoride makes the teeth stronger and more resistant to demineralization and decay caused by bacteria and acid. Daily brushing is also an effective means of preventing tooth decay.

The common side effects of Prevident are mouth or gum irritation and stained or pitted teeth.

Stop using Prevident and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Allergic reactions including rash, breathing difficulties, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, and severe dizziness;
