Renagel Information

Renagel Details (Brand and Generic) offers the brand Renagel from Canada manufactured by Genzyme. The generic Sevelamer comes from India also called Biosev by Biocon and Foseal by Emcure.

The brand Renagel is available in the strength of 800 mg tablets and the generic Sevelamer comes in the strength of 400 mg and 800 mg tablets.

Renagel (Sevelamer) is a prescription medication used to lower high blood phosphate levels in patients who are on dialysis due to severe kidney disease. Dialysis removes some phosphate from your blood, but it is difficult to remove enough to keep your phosphate levels balanced. Sevelamer belongs to the class of medications called phosphate binders. It binds to phosphorus that you get from foods in your diet and prevents it from being absorbed into your blood stream.

The common side effects of Renagel may include bloating, constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, gas, itching, joint pain, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach pain or upset stomach, and vomiting.

• Black, bloody, or tarry stools;
