Usage

Revolution Plus (Selamectin/Sarolaner) is a prescription pet medication used to treat and prevent heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis in cats and kittens. It is intended for cats and kittens eight weeks of age and older and 2.8 pounds or greater in weight. Revolution Plus also treats cats with ear mites, roundworm, and hookworm infections. Revolution Plus is a combination medicine. The active ingredients in Revolution Plus are Selamectin and Sarolaner. Selamectin belongs to a class of drugs called semisynthetic ivermectin. Selamectin works by creating an electrolyte imbalance in the nerve and muscle cells of heartworms, which causes paralysis and death. Sarolaner belongs to a class of medications called isoxazolines (ectoparasiticide). It works by killing parasites on the skin or in the fur of animals. In cats, Revolution Plus works within the first few hours after administration to kill fleas present on your pet.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Revolution Plus are appetite loss, drowsiness, irritation and hair loss at the application site, drooling, generalized body itching, slightly powdery residue at the application site, and weakness.

Stop using Revolution Plus for your pet and contact your veterinary doctor right away if your pet has any of the serious side effects such as:
• Collapse or severe weakness;
• Muscle tremor;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, including itching skin, coughing, sneezing, wheezing;
• Worsening of your cat symptoms

Warnings and Interactions

Revolution Plus is a topical medication that should be used to rub the cat's body. Place the Revolution Plus tube tip on the skin and squeeze the tube 3 or 4 times to empty its entire contents directly on the skin in one spot. Keeping the tube pressed, drag it away from the liquid and lift it to remove. Check the tube to ensure it is empty. Do not massage the product into your pet's skin. Revolution Plus contains alcohol. Do not apply to broken skin. Wash your hands after use. Revolution Plus should be used once monthly. Do not give extra or double doses. Revolution Plus may cause reactions like hives, itching, and skin redness when it comes in contact with humans. Avoid contact with the eyes. If this happens, wash your eyes with water and seek medical attention. Inform your doctor if your pet's condition worsens or does not improve with treatment.

Before you start using Revolution Plus for your cats, inform your veterinary doctor about your pets' medical history, especially if your cats:
• Is lactating;
• Is less than 8 weeks old or weighs less than 2.8lbs;
• Has kidney problems;
• Has liver problems

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use for your cats, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your veterinarian if your cat is pregnant or breeding. It is unknown if Revolution Plus is safe for pregnant or breeding cats. Inform your veterinarian if your cat is breastfeeding.
