Product Details

Amaryl (Glimepiride) is an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. Amaryl is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Amaryl is not used in patients with type 1 diabetes. Amaryl works by causing the release of your body's natural insulin which lowers blood sugar. Controlling your blood sugar levels can help to prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs and sexual problems.

Common side effects of Amaryl include Contact your doctor if you notice more serious side effects such as difficulty with swallowing, dizziness, fast heartbeat, hives, itching, puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, shortness of breath, skin rash, tightness in the chest, unusual tiredness or weakness, or wheezing.

You should not use Amaryl if you are allergic to glimepiride, sulphonamides, or sulfa drugs, as well as if you have diabetic ketoacidosis. To make sure Amaryl sis safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had heart disease, liver or kidney disease, or an enzyme deficiency called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD). Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as extra monitoring may need to take place to ensure the safety of the mother and baby.
