Product Detail

Blocadren (Timolol) is a prescription medication that is used to treat high blood pressure. This medication is also used after a heart attack to help prevent another heart attack from occurring. It may be used on its own or combined with other medications. Blocadren may also be used to treat migraine headaches. Timolol belongs to a class of drugs known as beta blockers. This medication works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals such as epinephrine in your body on the heart and blood vessels. This lowers the heart rate, blood pressure and strain on the heart.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue/tiredness, lightheadedness, mild drowsiness, slow heartbeat, unusual weakness. The serious side effects may include:
• Anxiety or nervousness;
• Breathing problems;
• Chest pain;
• Decreased sex drive;
• Feeling tired;
• Irregular heart rhythms;
• Severe allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, swelling of mouth, face, lips or tongue);
• Sleep problems;

You should not take Blocadren if you are allergic to Timolol or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical conditions and about all the medications you are taking including OTC and herbal medications. This medication can cause side effects that may impair your thinking and reactions. You should not drink alcohol while taking this medication because it could increase drowsiness and dizziness. Timolol is a part of a complete program to treat hypertension. It should be combined with diet, exercise and weight control. Timolol may harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. This medication can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby.
