Product Details

Cardura (Doxazosin) is an alpha-adrenergic blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) or to improve urination in men with enlarged prostates. Cardura works for hypertension by targeting certain muscle receptors and relaxing your veins and arteries so that blood can pass through them more easily, lowering blood pressure. For urination issues, Cardura targets receptors in the smooth muscle and relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder, making it much easier to urinate.

Common side effects of Cardura include low blood pressure or dizziness, drowsiness, headache, or feelings of weakness. Contact your doctor if you notice more serious side effects including severe light-headedness, severe ongoing stomach pain or bloating, new or worsening chest pain, trouble breathing, or a penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer.

To make sure Cardura is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have a blockage in digestive tract, severe constipation, liver disease, or low blood pressure. Do not use Cardura if you are allergic to Doxazosin, or similar medications such as Alfuzosin, Prazosin, Silodosin, Tamsulosin, or Terazosin. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding, in order to discuss any possible risks. As Cardura can cause dizziness, take care with getting up from a sitting or lying position. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects you.

Questions and Answers

1. Can I drink alcohol while taking Cardura?
Answer: Alcohol consumption is not recommended while using Cardura. It may increase dizziness, and cause other unwanted side effects.
