Product Details

Denavir Cream (Penciclovir) is a topical antiviral medication used to treat cold sores on the lips that are caused by the herpes simplex virus. Denavir Cream works by entering the virus cell and interrupting the DNA and protein synthesis. This in turn impairs the virus cell’s ability to reproduce and grow, and also leads to death of some of the virus cells. This medication can speed up healing of the sores and decreases symptoms such as tingling, pain, burning and itching. Denavir is not a cure for cold sores or herpes, and you may continue to have cold sores in the future. It is used only to reduce the length and severity of symptoms. Denavir is also only to be used for herpes infections on the mouth, known as cold sores. It is not for use on genital lesions or herpes infections of the eyes.

Common side effects of Denavir include minor irritation where Denavir is applied and slight changes in taste. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice more serious side effects such as severe irritation where you’ve applied Denavir, or signs of an allergic reaction. If you do notice signs of a severe allergic reaction, or other serious side effects, seek emergency medical attention.

Do not use Denavir if you have an allergy to penciclovir or any other part of Denavir. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding in order to discuss any possible risks. Do not share this medication with anyone, as it may pass the virus to them. Take care when you have an active infection to avoid spreading the virus to others.
