Dovonex (Calcipotriol) is a prescription topical ointment used to treat plaque psoriasis. Calcipotriene is a man-made form of Vitamin D. It works by slowing down the growth of skin cells reducing the symptoms of psoriasis. You may see a change in your skin in about two weeks.

Avoid sunlight or tanning beds and wear protective clothing and use sunscreen SPF 30 or higher when you are outdoors. Tell your doctor about all the medications you use including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Calciprotriene and other medications such as mineral supplements that contain calcium, and vitamin D or multivitamins. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Do not use this medication on a child without a doctor’s advice.
