Product Details

Lescol (Fluvastatin) is a RX medication that is used for the treatment of high cholesterol in adults and children who are more than 10 years old. Fluvastatin belongs to the family of medications known as cholesterol-lowering drugs. This medication is used to along with proper diet to help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and fats and raise good cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. Fluvastatin works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. Lescol will work better if you make other lifestyle changes including eating a proper diet, exercising and quitting smoking.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects may include cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat, diarrhea, headache, mild muscle pain, mild nausea, sleep problems and stomach pain or indigestion. The serious side effects may include:
• Confusion or memory problems;
• Fever, unusual tiredness, and dark colored urine;
• Increased thirst, increased urination, hunger, dry mouth, fruity breath odor, etc;
• Nausea, itching, loss appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice;
• Pain or burning when you urinate;
• Unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness;
• Swelling, weight gain, urinating less than usual or not at all

You should not take Lescol if you are allergic to Fluvastatin or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medication must not be used during pregnancy. Fluvastatin may harm an unborn baby. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your doctor right away. This medication passes into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. There are other medications that may interact with Fluvastatin such as colchicine, cyclosporine, gemfibrozil, and phenytoin.
