Liberte UT 380 (Intrauterine Device with Copper) is an intrauterine device used to prevent pregnancy in women of reproductive age. It is often the preferred choice of contraceptives among women who cannot take hormone therapy because of its side effects or the risk of blood clots. Liberte UT 380 lasts for an extended period (5-10 years), is non-hormonal, and begins to work almost immediately after it is fitted into the vaginal of a woman. It is spermicidal and works by preventing sperm from surviving in the cervix or uterus and preventing the sperm from fertilizing the released eggs in the fallopian tubes.

Liberte UT 380 should not be used as an emergency contraceptive method. Your doctor will check the size and position of your uterus before inserting a copper IUD. A speculum may be inserted into the vagina so your doctor can see the cervix and check for infection. The examination is usually done under anesthesia to relieve you of pain. You may experience slight discomfort or cramps for a few minutes when the IUD is inserted. The best time to insert Liberte UT 380 is during or just after a period, but they can be inserted at any time, provided you are not pregnant. It would be best to know that Liberte UT 380 IUCD does not protect you from infection and sexually transmitted diseases. It may be advisable to use a barrier method of contraceptives such as latex condoms if you engage in multiple unprotected intercourse. • Allergic to Copper IUD;
• Breast cancer;
• Heart diseases, including hypertension;
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease (including cirrhosis, hepatocellular adenoma, or malignant hepatoma);
• Pelvic tuberculosis;
• Post septic abortion;
• Treating pelvic inflammatory diseases or purulent cervicitis;
• Undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding
