Usage

Mirvaso (Brimonidine Tartrate) is a prescription medication that is used for the treatment of facial erythema (redness) in adults. Brimonidine belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha agonists. It works by narrowing blood vessels to reduce facial redness.

Side Effects

The common side effects of Mirvaso may include flushing and redness/burning of the skin. If you experience any of the serious side effects or allergic reactions (itching/swelling, rash, severe dizziness, trouble breathing), please seek immediate medical attention:
• Fainting;
• Pale/whitening skin;
• Slow heartbeat;

Warnings and Interactions

You should not use Mirvaso if you are allergic to Brimonidine or to apraclonidine or if you have:
• An autoimmune disorder called Sjogren's syndrome;
• A certain skin/connective tissue disease called Scleroderma;
• Blood vessel disorder;
• Depression;
• Heart disease;
• Low blood pressure;
• Raynaud’s disease;

Mirvaso topical gel is for topical use only and not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use. Do not apply Mirvaso gel to irritated skin or open wounds. Avoid contact with the eyes and lips. Before you start taking this medication, inform your doctor about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. Mirvaso is not expected to harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. You should avoid the triggers that may worsen rosacea such as wind, hot beverages, spicy foods, alcohol and extreme cold. It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
