Naprosyn (Naproxen) belongs to a family of medications known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The medication works as it is able to reduce the amount of hormones in the body, which are responsible for causing pain and inflammation. It is often prescribed to help people who suffer from conditions like arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, bursitis, gout, or menstrual cramps. You should not use this medication if you are known to be allergic to any of the active ingredients used during manufactures, as this may cause a severe allergic reaction within your body. Brand Naprosyn is available in Naprosyn sustained release (SR), 750 mg tablets. Generic is available in tablets, EC tablets, and oral suspension (liquid). Generic tablets come in three strengths: 250 mg, 375 mg, and 500 mg.
Naprosyn Side Effects
Chest pains, weakness, bloody stools, swellings, rapid weight gain, nausea, jaundice, fever, sore throat, headaches and also blurred vision are all serious side effects which have been associated with the use of it. It is important that if you take this medication and you experience any type of side effects, which you report to your doctor as soon as possible. If the side effects become worse, then you should seek emergency medical aid.
There may be other medications which interfere with this medication, and it is important that you inform your doctor of any other medications that you currently take, this includes all over the counter drugs and all other prescription medications. It is advised that you do not take any other type of cold or flu allergy medication, as this could result in an overdose of the active ingredients. It is important that you do not consume any level of alcohol whilst using this medication as the risk of stomach problems or stomach breathing is greatly increased.
