Olpasiran (Olpasiran) is a prescription medication used to lower apolipoprotein A, a key component of Lipoprotein (a), which is believed to be a causal factor in the development of cardiovascular disease. Lipoprotein(a) is a sticky cholesterol, essentially a silent killer, and has been linked to aortic stenosis and atherosclerosis. Olpasiran is the active ingredient in this medication. Olpasiran belongs to the class of drugs called Lipoprotein (a) (Lp(a)) inhibitors. Olpasiran is a small RNA product with interfering RNA product targeting Lipoprotein (a) synthesis in the liver, with a drastic reduction in the level of cholesterol.
