Usage

Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo is a birth control drug; it is atriphasic pill, meaning there are two types of hormones, a progestin and an estrogen. It contains Ethinyl Estradiol and Norgestimate which are two female hormones that work together as a contraception to prevent pregnancy in fertile women. This medication is also used to treat severe acne. These birth control pills may also make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods; decrease your risk of ovarian cysts. It works by stopping ovulation, preventing an egg from attaching to the uterus and preventing sperm from getting through the cervix. The pill contains different levels of hormones to work with your body through its monthly cycle. It contains a lower level of hormones than Ortho Tri Cyclen. The 21 day pill pack contains 21 pills with active medication. The 28 day pill pack contains 21 pills with active medication and 7 pills with no medication.

Some medications may cause hormonal birth control to work less well by decreasing the amount of birth control hormones in your body such as modafinil, rifamycins, St. John's wort, carbamazepine, topiramate, HIV drugs, etc. This effect can result in pregnancy.
