Sebcur (Salicylic acid) is an over-the-counter shampoo used to control the itching, redness, and scaling associated with stubborn seborrhea or psoriasis of the scalp and restore a normal scalp oil balance. Scalp psoriasis is a chronic and noncontagious condition that causes the skin cells on the scalp to reproduce too quickly. This results in thick, discolored patches of skin called plaques. The active ingredient in Sebcur is Salicylic acid. Salicylic acid belongs to a class of drugs called keratolytic agents. It works by breaking down and dissolving plaque on the scalp while increasing moisture to stop it from forming.
