Carbidopa makes sure that enough levodopa gets to the brain where it is needed. This keeps the amount of levodopa in your brain as even as possible.

Your doctor may want you to gradually reduce the amount of Sinemet CR you are using before stopping completely. This may help reduce withdrawal symptoms such as muscle stiffness, fever, and mental changes.

Before you start using Sinemet CR, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:

• Heart disease, including irregular heartbeat, also known as arrhythmia;
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease;
• Melanoma (skin cancer);
• Open-angle glaucoma (eye pressure problem);
