Warnings and Interactions

Before using Fluocinonide topical products (cream, gel, or ointment), tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or other corticosteroids (such as prednisone, hydrocortisone) if you have any other allergies. Topsyn topical medicine is for use on the skin only. You should not use it on the face, groin, or underarms unless directed by your doctor. You should wash and dry your hands before applying the medication, then clean and dry the affected area. Apply a thin film of the medicine to the affected area and gently rub in as directed by your doctor, usually 1 to 4 times daily, depending on your brand. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not cover, bandage, or wrap the area unless directed by your doctor. If the medicine is applied to the diaper area of an infant, do not use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants unless required to do so by your doctor. Before you start using Topsyn, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you are immunocompromised or if you have:
• Adrenal disorders such as Cushing syndrome;
• Diabetes mellitus;
• Liver diseases;
• The presence of sore in the affected skin

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when needed. It would be best to discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Corticosteroids such as Fluocinonide may pass into breast milk. If you are a breastfeeding mother taking this medication, it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breastfeeding.
