Usage

Zoladex injection (Goserelin) is an antineoplastic medication that is used in the treatment of symptoms of prostate cancer in men. It can also be used in treating breast cancer and endometriosis in women. The active substance in Zoladex is Goserelin. Goserelin belongs to a class of drugs called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists. It works by blocking the production of sex hormones such as testosterone and estrogen by the pituitary gland. The resulting lack of testosterone in men interferes with stimulating cell growth in testosterone-dependent cancer cells.

Side Effects and Precautions

The most common side effects of Zoladex include hot flashes, reduced libido, and the inability to attain or sustain an erection (impotent). Other side effects may include sweating, mood swing, acne, headache, swelling in your hands or feet, mild skin rash, and itching. Zoladex can cause diarrhea. You should not use Zoladex if you are allergic to goserelin, LHRH, or LHRH-like hormones (such as histrelin, triptorelin). It can cause hypersensitivity reactions such as hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
