Product Details

Divigel (Estradiol gel) is the female hormone estrogen that is used to treat symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, burning, irritation and vaginal dryness. Divigel is a clear gel which is odorless if it is dry. Estradiol gel is absorbed through the skin and enters into the bloodstream. Divigel should be applied at the same time every day.

Divigel Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Divigel may include breast pain, changes in menstrual periods, light vaginal bleeding or spotting and vaginal itching or discharge, headache, nausea or vomiting and weight changes. The serious side effects may include:
• Breast lumps;
• Dark urine;
• Increased or new vaginal irritation, itching, odor or discharge;
• Increased thirst or urination;
• Mental or mood changes;
• Severe stomach or abdominal pain;
• Swelling hands, ankles and feet

You should not use Divigel if you are allergic to Estradiol or if you have any other allergies. Before you start using this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. You should not smoke or use tobacco while you are using this medication because smoking increases your risk of stroke, blood clots, high blood pressure and heart attack, especially in women older than 35. Divigel should not be used during pregnancy. Inform your doctor right away if you become pregnant while you are using this medication. This medication passes into breast milk and it may reduce the quality and amount of breast milk produced. You should not apply sunscreen to your skin at the same time you apply Divigel. You should eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice because it may interact with Estradiol and lead to potentially dangerous effects. There may be an interaction between Divigel and other medications such as anastrazole, exemestane, letrozole, ospemifene, raloxifene, tamoxifen, etc.
