Florastor Information

Florastor (saccharomyces boulardii lyo) is normally prescribed to ensure that a normal effective bowel function is maintained, and also to promote general intestinal health. The active ingredient used is saccharomyces boulardii lyo, the substance works as it is able to help the body maintain a normal consistency of bacteria within the intestines.

Florastor Side Effects

You should not take this medication if you are allergic to yeast or if you are taking any anti-fungal medications such as clotrimazole, itraconazole and ketoconazole. If you are taking any other medication including prescription and herbal medications you should inform your doctor of this, as there is a chance that the medications may interact with each other and produce negative side effects.

Constipation, increased thirst or increased gas levels in the body or known side effects which are associated with the use of this medication. It is important that if you do encounter any side effect whilst using this medication, that you inform your doctor immediately and consult them for further advice and guidance. There is also the chance of a severe allergic reaction if you are allergic to any of the ingredients used in the manufacture of this medication. Difficulty breathing, swellings and hives are all symptoms of an allergic reaction.

If you happen to take an accidental overdose of this medication then you should seek emergency medical aid immediately, however an overdose is not likely to cause any life threatening symptoms as a result. Your doctor will inform you if there are any restrictions to the food or drink you consume whilst taking this medication.
