Product Details
Invega (Paliperidone) is an antipsychotic medication that is used for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and teenagers who are at least 12 years old. Schizophrenia causes symptoms of hallucinations such as hearing, seeing or sensing things that are not there. People who have schizophrenia may feel depressed, anxious or tense. Invega is an antipsychotic medication. It works by changing the balance of chemicals in the brain that causes schizophrenia. Invega can decrease hallucinations and it helps people to think more clearly and be positive about them. They also feel less agitated and can lead a normal everyday life.
Invega Side Effects
The common side effects may include dizziness, drooling, drowsiness, stomach or abdominal pain, tiredness and weight gain. Many people who use this medication do not have serious side effects. Inform your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects such as:
• Difficulty swallowing;
• Interrupted breathing during sleep;
• Mental or mood changes;
• Muscle spasms;
• Shaking or Tremor;
• Signs of infection such as fever persistent sore throat
Invega Precautions
You should not take Invega if you are allergic to Paliperidone or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you dizzy or drowsy. You should not drive or do any acitivity that requires you to be alert. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Invega may make you sweat less which may make it more likely to get a heat stroke. This medication should only be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. If you are planning to become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, talk to your doctor. Invega passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. There may be an interaction between Paliperidone and other medications such as Metoclopramide.
