Isopto Carpine (Pilocarpine) Ophthalmic solution is used to control intraocular pressure in chronic simple glaucoma. This medication may also be used alone prior to emergency surgery or in combination with other miotics or carbonic anhydrase inhibitors in acute glaucoma. Pilocarpine belongs to the class of medications called cholinergic agonists. This medication works by allowing more fluid to flow out from the eye; which lowers the pressure in the eye. Isopto Carpine helps control your glaucoma, it does not cure it.

The common side effects of Isopto Carpine may include brow ache, burning, eye irritation, headache, stinging of the eye, and temporary blurred vision.
