Product Details

Lynparza is a cancer medication used to treat advanced ovarian cancer in some women, as well as to help maintain the body’s response prior to chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or peritoneal cancer, when the cancer has returned. It may also treat HER2-negative breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body before or after receiving chemotherapy or hormonal treatments. It works by interfering with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body.

The common side effects of Lynparza include: cold or flu symptoms, increased risk of bleeding or infections, dizziness, weakness, tiredness, heartburn, indigestion, stomach pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, headache, back pain, muscle or joint pain, blisters or ulcers in the mouth, altered sense of taste, rash, or abnormal kidney function tests.

The more serious side effects may include:

• Blood in your urine or stools
• Chest pain, wheezing, shortness of breath, new or worsening cough
• Fever, chills, flu symptoms
• Painful mouth sores, red or swollen gums
• Pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding
• Severe or ongoing nausea or vomiting
• Signs of allergic reaction
• Skin sores, red spots on the skin
• Sudden weakness or tiredness
• Weight loss

You should not take Lynparza if you are allergic to Olaparib. Before you start taking Lynparza, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications.

Lynparza can harm an unborn baby or cause birth defects if the mother or father is using it. If you’re a woman, take the proper precautions to not get pregnant while on this medication, or for at least 6 months after your last dose. If you’re a man, take proper precautions to make sure your partner does not get pregnant while you are on this medication, and for at least 3 months after your last dose. Also, do not donate sperm for at least 3 months after your last dose. Do not breastfeed while on this medication, and for at least 1 month after the last dose.


Be sure to take Lynparza exactly as your doctor describes for you. Follow all instructions that come with your medication. You may need to take weekly or monthly blood tests to determine whether or not Lynparza is right for you before you start and during treatment.

Take Lynparza with or without food, but do not crush, chew, dissolve, or break the tablet. Swallow it whole.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

There can be interactions between Lynparza and other medications. Talk to your doctor before you use other medications while on Lynparza. It can also weaken your immune system, which means you could get infections more easily—including fatal or serious infections.

To ensure this medication is right for you, be sure to tell your doctor if any of the following conditions apply to you:

• Breathing problems
• Kidney disease
• Lung disease

1. Since taking Lynparza, I’m having trouble breathing. What should I do?
Answer: Lynparza may cause a serious lung problem for some people. If you experience chest pain, wheezing, trouble breathing, or a new/worsening cough, see your doctor right away to have it diagnosed.

2. Why do I need so many blood tests while on Lynparza?
Answer: Lynparza can lower blood cells that fight off infections and help your blood to clot properly. You may need weekly or monthly tests to ensure there are no infections. You may also need chest x-rays to make sure this medicine isn’t causing any harmful effects to your lungs.

3. Can I donate sperm while on Lynparza?
Answer: No. This medication can cause serious birth defects if a mother or father is using this medicine. If you want to donate sperm, wait at least 3 months after your last dose.
