Mezavant and Mesalamine at CanadaPharmacyOnline.com

Brand Mezavant (mesalamine), manufactured by Shire, is available in many countries worldwide, including Canada. Lialda is another brand name for mesalamine but may have different formulations and availability depending on the region. A generic version of Mezavant is not available at this time

Dosage:

Brand Mezavant is available in 1200 mg tablets. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose based on your needs and medical conditions.

Usage:

Mezavant (mesalamine) is a prescription medication, specifically a 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), used to reduce inflammation in the colon and treat mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. It is used both for the treatment of active disease and for the maintenance of remission, helping to prevent symptom recurrence. (refer to the product monograph in Canada)

Mechanism of Action Mezavant contains mesalamine, 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), an aminosalicylate with anti-inflammatory properties. Mesalamine acts locally on the colonic mucosa to reduce inflammation. The precise mechanism of action of mesalamine is not fully elucidated, but it is known to modulate inflammatory mediators, including inhibition of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase pathways, and scavenging of free radicals. Mezavant tablets utilize Multi Matrix System (MMX) technology, which allows for controlled and extended release of mesalamine throughout the colon.

Take Mezavant orally exactly as your doctor prescribes, following the instructions in the Mesalamine: Package Insert / Prescribing Information. Consult your doctor for personalized guidance and safe use.

The information below summarizes some, but not all, potential side effects, risks, and interactions. Before taking Mezavant, it is essential to discuss all possible side effects, risks, and interactions with your doctor or pharmacist.
