Product Details
Rheumatrex (Methotrexate) is a prescription medication that is used for the treatment of certain types of cancer of the breast, skin, head, neck or lung. It is also used to treat severe psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatrex may also be used for lupus and psoriatic arthritis. Methotrexate belongs to the class of drugs called antimetabolites. This medication works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells and suppressing the immune system. By treating rheumatoid arthritis with an aggressive therapy like methotrexate early will help to reduce further joint damage and preserve joint function.
Rheumatrex Side Effects
The common side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, stomach pain and vomiting. See your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Changes in vision;
• Irregular heartbeat;
• Mental or mood changes;
• Neck stiffness;
• Severe headache;
• Signs of an infection (fever, chills, persistent sore throat, cough);
• Weakness on one side of the body

Rheumatrex Precautions
You should not take Rheumatrex if you are allergic to Methotrexate or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking Rheumatrex, inform your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you dizzy and drowsy. You should not drive or do any activity that requires you to be alert. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Methotrexate should not be used during pregnancy. It may harm an unborn baby. This medication can be absorbed through the skin and lungs and may harm an unborn baby. Methotrexate passes into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. Do not breastfeed while using this medication. Rheumatrex should be stored at room temperature away from light and moisture and out of reach of children and pets.
