Dosage

Vistitan is available in the strength of 0.03 %/5 ml solution only. The generic Bimatoprost Solution is available in the strength of 0.03 %/3 ml.

Usage

Vistitan (Bimatoprost) is a prescription medication used to reduce intraocular pressure in people with open-angle glaucoma or intraocular hypertension (increased pressure in the eye). High intraocular pressure usually occurs when too much fluid builds up inside the eyes. If not treated, high pressure can damage your optic nerve and cause vision loss or blindness. Vistitan is also used in treating hypotrichosis of the eyelashes by increasing their growth including length, thickness, and darkness. The active ingredient in Vistitan is Bimatoprost. Bimatoprost belongs to the class of medication called antiglaucoma (prostaglandin Agonists). Bimatoprost works by increasing the flow of fluid out of the eye.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Vistitan are eye redness, itching, temporary discomfort, dryness, and darker skin around the eyes.

Stop using Vistitan and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Allergic reactions including swollen lips, mouth, throat, or tongue;
• A feeling of something in the eyes;
• Excessive tear production;
• Feeling dizzy;
• Serious eye irritation such as itching, redness, or stinging;
• Worsening of your breathing especially if you have asthma or COPD

Warnings and Interactions

Before using Bimatoprost, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it, similar drugs (such as latanoprost, travoprost), or any other allergies. Vistitan is an eye drop and should be instilled in the eyes usually once daily in the evening. You should feel the effect of Vistitan within 4 hours after being instilled in the eye. Do not use more than your prescription label and follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. If you wear contact lenses, make sure you remove them before using your eye drops. Wait 15 minutes before putting your lenses back in. To avoid contaminating the medication, do not let the tip of the applicator touch your fingers or any part of your eye. Close the container tightly after each use. Using too many drops can irritate your eye and make it water and turn red. If you get too much Bimatoprost in your eye, rinse it all out with water. Do not put any more drops in until it is time for your next dose. Discuss with your doctor if there is no improvement in your condition or worsen.

Before you start using Vistitan, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Breathing problems such as asthma or COPD;
• Eye problems such as lens extraction, macular edema, iritis, aeitis;
• Kidney problems;
• Liver problems;
• Viral infection of the eyes

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Bimatoprost is safe during pregnancy. It is applied to the eye and very little gets into the blood. It is not expected to be harmful to an unborn child. It is unknown if Vistitan passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding. There may be a drug interaction between Vistitan and other drugs such as travoprost, latanoprost, latanoprostene, and NSAIDs such as diclofenac, ibuprofen, ketorolac, and naproxen). Vistitan eye drops should be stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature and in a secure place where they will not be exposed to excessive heat, moisture, or direct sunlight.
