Xadago (Safinamide Methansulfonate) is a prescription that is used to treat the symptoms of Parkinsons’s disease which is caused by too little dopamine in the brain. Safinamide belongs to a class of drugs known as MAO inhibitors. This medication works by increasing the levels of chemicals such as dopamine in the body. Xadago can help improve symptoms such as shakiness, stiffness and difficulty moving.

The common side effects may include dizziness or drowsiness. The serious side effects may include:
• Fainting;
• Loss of balance;
• Mental or mood changes;
• Unusual strong urges;
• Worsening muscle stiffness or twitching

You should not take Xadago if you are allergic to Safinamide Methansulfonate or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you drowsy or dizzy. Alcohol or marijuana can make you more drowsy or dizzy. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medication should only be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding a baby. There may be an interaction between bupropion, buspirone, carbamazepine, tetrabenazine, migraine headaches and valbenazine, etc.
