Product Details

Alrex is a steroidal medication used to treat inflammation of the eye caused by allergies, severe acne, shingles, eye injury, chemical burns, or other conditions. The gel form of this medication is also used to treat pain and swelling after eye surgery.

Alrex Side Effects

The common side effects of Alrex include minor burning, blurred vision, dry or watery eyes, sensitivity to light, headache, runny nose, sore throat, or feeling like something is in your eye. The serious side effects may include:

• Eye pain, swelling, or trouble closing your eye
• Pain after use
• Pain behind your eyes
• Seeing halos
• Signs of infection – redness, swelling, severe discomfort, crusting, or drainage
• Sudden vision changes
• Tunnel vision
• Worsening redness or itching

You should not take Alrex if you are allergic to Loteprednol Etabonateor if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication should not be used by anyone younger than 18 years old. It is not known if this medication could affect an unborn or nursing infant.
