Product Details

Merional (Menotropins) is a prescription medication used to treat certain fertility problems in women. This medication provides follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) that help stimulate healthy ovaries to make eggs. Menotropins is used in combination with another hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin-hCG to help you become pregnant by bringing about the growth and release of a mature egg. This medication may also be used to stimulate the production of sperm in mean who have functioning testes but in whom hormonal stimulation is deficient.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects may include breast tenderness, dizziness, headache, mild stomach pain/bloating, redness/pain at the injection site. The serious side effects may include:
• Chest pain;
• Flu-like symptoms;
• Pain/swelling of the calf muscles;
• Severe headache;
• Shortness of breath;
• Slurred speech;
• Sudden vision changes;
• Vaginal bleeding;
• Weakness on one side of the body

You should not use Merional if you are allergic to Menotropins or if you are allergic to other products containing FSH or LH or if you have any other allergies. Before you start using this medication talk to your doctor about your medical conditions and about all the medications you are taking including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you dizzy. You should not drive or do any activity the requires you to be alert. Limit alcoholic beverages. You should stop using this medication when you become pregnant. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk.
