Ocunox Information

Ocunox at CanadaPharmacyOnline.com

Ocunox is manufactured by Candorvision. It is available in several countries worldwide, including Canada.

There is no generic equivalent of Ocunox.

Dosage:

Ocunox is available in the following form:
• Eye Ointment: 5 g tube, containing 250 I.U./g retinol palmitate (vitamin A), paraffin, liquid paraffin, wool fat (lanolin), and white petrolatum. It is preservative-free and phosphate-free.

Apply Ocunox once daily at bedtime because the ointment is fatty. Unscrew the cap, tilt your head back slightly, gently pull down the lower eyelid, and squeeze a small amount of ointment into the pocket formed. Close your eyes slowly afterward.

Usage:

Ocunox improves the tear film and protects the eye surface, especially for people with dry or tired eyes. Because tear production naturally decreases during sleep, Ocunox is designed to provide protection and moisture overnight, helping to prevent discomfort upon waking. You can use Ocunox for extended periods and combine it with other eye drops and ointments if you apply them about 30 minutes later.

How It Works
Ocunox forms a smooth, protective layer over the eye with a blend of petrolatum-based ingredients, which slows tear evaporation during sleep and helps the eyelids glide smoothly over the cornea and conjunctiva to prevent crusting. It also contains vitamin A (retinol palmitate), a natural component of the eye's own tear film, to improve the ointment's tolerance and help it mix more readily with the eye's available tears, relieving the burning sensation associated with dry or tired eyes.

Use Ocunox exactly as directed on the product packaging. Remove contact lenses before applying the ointment, and expect temporary blurred vision after use because of the ointment's fatty texture, which is why it is generally recommended for nighttime use.

The information below summarizes some, but not all, potential side effects, risks, and interactions. Before using Ocunox, review the full product label and discuss any concerns with your doctor or pharmacist.

Side Effects:

The information below outlines potential side effects of Ocunox. It is not an exhaustive list, and individual reactions can vary.

Common side effects: These are common side effects of Ocunox; other side effects are possible. Contact your doctor promptly if any side effects are persistent, worsening, or concerning, or if you experience any other concerning symptoms.
• A mild greasy sensation in the eye
• Temporary blurred vision after application. These are normal physical effects of petrolatum ointments and resolve as the ointment melts and clears.

Serious Side Effects: Seek immediate medical attention or call emergency services if you experience any of the following symptoms, though they are rare:
• Hypersensitivity reactions: Red, burning, or itching eyes, or excessive tearing that does not resolve quickly after stopping use.
• Severe allergic reaction: Rash, itching, or swelling of the face, eyelids, or throat.

Contraindications:

The following is not an exhaustive list of contraindications. Before using Ocunox, discuss any relevant medical conditions or sensitivities with your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not use Ocunox if:
• Allergies: You have a known hypersensitivity to lanolin (wool fat), petrolatum, or any of the ointment's other ingredients.
• The folding carton seal was not intact before first use.

Tell your doctor about any relevant eye conditions before using Ocunox. This is crucial as certain conditions may need specific medical evaluation.
• Eye pain, vision changes
• Symptoms that persist or worsen.

Drug Interactions:

Before using Ocunox, discuss any other eye drops or ointments you use with your doctor or pharmacist. If you use other eye drops or medications, apply Ocunox about 30 minutes after using them, since its thick, oily texture can otherwise interfere with the absorption of medications applied afterward.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

Because Ocunox works locally on the surface of the eye and is not meaningfully absorbed into the bloodstream, it is generally considered a low-risk option during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

Use in Children:

Ocunox may be used in children under a doctor's guidance. Do not share a tube of Ocunox between users, including between a child and other family members, to reduce the risk of contamination.
