Astelin Nasal Spray (Azelastine) is a prescription medication that is used to relieve nasal symptoms such as runny, itching, stuffy nose, sneezing and post-nasal drip caused by allergies. Azelastine belongs to a class of drugs known as antihistamines. This medication works by blocking histamines that are responsible for the nasal symptoms. This medication is used for seasonal allergies in adults and children who are at least 2 years old and for year-round allergies in adults and children as young as six months old. Astelin Nasal Spray is usually once or twice a day in both nostrils.

Astelin Nasal Spray Side Effects and Precautions
The serious allergies may include worsening allergy symptoms, signs of an ear infection, fever, ear pain, full feeling, trouble hearing, and drainage from the ear). The common side effects may include:
• Drowsiness or feeling tired;
• Ear infection;
• Fever;
• Headache;
• Skin rash;
• Sneezing, nasal irritation, nosebleeds;
• Symptoms of cold such as stuffy nose, sneezing, cough, sore throat;
• Unusual taste in the mouth;
• Vomiting

You should not take Astelin Nasal Spray if you are allergic to Azelastine or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you drowsy. You should not drive, use machinery or do any activity that requires you to be alert. Avoid alcoholic beverages. This medication should only be used during pregnancy if it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding a baby. There may be a drug interaction between Azelastine and other medications such as opinoid pain or cough relievers, alcohol, alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem, carisoprodol and cetirizine, etc.
