This medication is for use in adults and children over the age of 5 years old. Azelastine belongs to a class of drugs known as antihistamines. It works by blocking histamines that are responsible for the nasal symptoms. This medication is used for seasonal allergies in adults and children who are at least 2 years old and for year-round allergies in adults and children as young as six months old. Astelin Nasal Spray is usually once or twice a day in both nostrils.
